Smut-film veteran Gilberto Martínez Solares outdoes himself in the outrageously tasteless sex comedy El Vecindario (1981). Designed to titillate devotees while outraging the masses, the film tells of a group of loose-canon horndogs who get their kicks by running the gamut on sex, violence, and taboos. The tone is farcical, but it’s still pretty surprising to see Solares thrust these ignoble studs up on a pedestal. Of course, by championing their exploits, he’s required to show a fair bit of skin. Angelica Chain and Anaís de Melo play willing participants in tawdry sex games that prove to be just the ticket.
