Groovy music, skimpy fashion, and middle-aged couples dealing with affairs make up the bulk of the film for today's Throwback Thursday. Let's throw it back to the swingin' sixties to see the sexy women in1968's Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice. With girls this hot, it's no wonder that Bob and Ted get tempted!
Bob and Carol are a modern couple played by Robert Culp and Natalie Wood. They have gone to therapy together to work on their relationship. They feel enlightened and emboldened by the kind of entitlement that surrounded the sixties, so they start encouraging Ted and Alice to do the same. Ted and Alice are played by Elliott Gould and Dyan Cannon. Bob and Carol both get on Ted and Alice's nerves...and excite them. There's an obvious sexual tension in this "friend" group. Of course, there is - Natalie Wood is there!
There is also a lot of cheating going on! Bob had confessed to Carol that he cheated on her and in another scene, Ted admits to an affair. Affairs were a popular film topic in the sixties as people became tempted by the sexual revolution. From The Graduate to Petulia, movie affairsseemed as common as the psychedelic music that accompanied them! Speaking of psychedelics, you won't need any to enjoy busty Dyan Cannon practically bursting out of her pink lake bra - especially when she and Natalie get undressed together for some real sexual liberation.
